Hello hello, Today I want to cover something extremely important no matter what age, skin type, or gender you are. That very important thing is skincare. Skincare is something I have become rather obsessed with within the past few months, but luckily, this is something we all need to kind of obsess over and be conscious of throughout our lives to ensure healthy and happy skin. Today I want to inform you guys on amazing ingredients, different skincare fads that work and do not work, and some products I would and would not recommend. With all of the different products I have tested and all of the research I have done, I am very excited to be able to share my knowledge with you guys! First things first, we all know that proper hydration is key to healthy skin. Fox 8 recently showed a mom who looked no older than her youngest daughter, who was in their teens. When they asked her what her youthful secret was, she simply replied with, water. Best believe that since then, I have been sucking down the water like no other! Water can clear up break outs, suppress your appetite and boost your metabolism, keep your brain feeling clear while providing you with energy, and most importantly keep away wrinkles and fine lines while ensuring hydrated and beautiful skin! One of my resolutions were to drink more water, approx. 64 oz a day, and I have actually been fulfilling that with the help of my handy dandy detox water bottle from blogilates, which also keeps you on track with where you should be with your water intake throughout the day. (Not a sponsored post btw) If you can´t get your hands on one of these bottles, then you can also simply add up your fluid oz throughout the day! If you are drinking a water bottle thats 16.9 fluid oz, then divide 64 by 16.9 which is 3.7, which means that roughly you will need to drink close to four of those water bottles that day to reach the recommended amount. With one of these water bottles from blogilates, you only need to drink two. You can purchase these bottles here at www.ogorgeous.com_ Some ingredients are so beneficial that you want to make sure you are getting them in your moisturizers, makeup, etc. Some of those ingredients provide different benefits, so I will break them up for you. If you want to reduce fine lines and wrinkles look for -
Which ones really work? Have you ever wasted your money on a fad just to do some research and realize that you wasted your money and it didn´t even work? Whether it was a detox, or a fitness scam, a gradual tanning product, a health product, etc. We have all been down that road where something sounded better than it actually was. In the health and beauty world, this is not uncommon. So today I want to clear up some fads and let you know where to put your money. First things first, the snail slime fad. Sounds pretty crazy right!? Actually sounds pretty gross at that.... trust me I thought the same thing at first. I didn´t even know that this was a thing until recently. I stumbled upon the idea on the internet one day and decided to look deep into it before purchasing the product. I then took a leap and bought a product that contained this strange ingredient. Whats so great about snail serum? As mentioned before, snail serum can reduce inflammation and redness, stimulate skin regeneration, and lock moisture into your skin. That all sounds great right? Well, various studies have proven that this product actually works, especially since this isn´t a new thing. The use of snail slime in the skin care world dates back to Ancient Greece. Farmers that handled snails realized that their skin was visibly smoother thus bringing snail slime into the world of possibilities for younger, smoother, and happier skin. How does it work you may ask? Simple, the slime is packed with nutrients like hyaluronic acid, glycoprotein enzymes, antimicrobial and copper peptides, and proteoglycans which as mentioned before, are all amazing for your skin. These products are all usually added to beauty products, but snails produce this stuff naturally. In other words, snails are just fabulous creatures with amazing skin. It increases the production of elastin and collagen, which are essential in your skin to maintain a healthy and youthful look and glow. So, does it work? I say YES! I have been using this product for weeks now, and I see a significant difference in the texture, look, and color of my skin. I swear by this product and now wish that I would of found it sooner. My fine lines are slowly disappearing, my skin is smooth at all times of the days, and the redness in my skin has rapidly decreased. The reviews I read are amazing, too, with women who suffer from wrinkles from intense UV exposure their wholes lives, they have seen miraculous results after just a few short weeks of using this product. I would recommend only using this product before bed, and not before applying makeup simply because it is slimy and will move your makeup a tad. Also, when you use it for the first time, be sure to test it on a small area of your skin in case you have any allergies to this that you do not know of. I will list my preferred brand below in my products recommended section! Second, the peptide fad. Many of you skincare junkies might be familiar with this fad. It comes back up every once and a while in the healthy and beauty industry, with scientific reasoning and facts backing the theory but without any legitament proof of the results. Lets take a look at the back story, then you guys can decide if this is worth it or not. How does it work? The science behind this skin phenomena is very straight forward and make a lot of sense. Peptides are a compound of two or more amino acids linked in a chain, which are active molecules of protein, which collagen is protein. Peptides are proven to signal your skin to make collagen. Which we all know collagen is essential to your skin. Neuropeptides are said to act like botox, since some peptides MIGHT block the transmission of signals from nerves to your facial muscles. All of this sounds great right? I mean it sounds pretty important to add into your skincare regimen. Does it really work? Okay guys, calm down. Before you get too excited and run out to buy this item, lets see what else it says about peptides.... I found that peptides also might not do anything. Sigh. So after all of my research and excitement I stumble across this sad statement. The reason why peptides might not work at all is because many things have to go right in order for these peptides to break down and stabilize correctly. Also, if a peptide is in a thick cream that sits on your face, then it might not absorb. If it only sits on your face, you will end up washing it off before anything can happen to your skin. AWESOME. Some people still swear by these peptide creams, but I personally say save your money and stick with the snail slime. Lastly, the green tea fad. This one is my favorite. I´m sure you guys already figured that though with all of my raving over green tea all of the time. You are all probably sick of hearing about it tbh. But yet here are more amazing things that green tea can do for you and your skin! Lets look more into it - How does green tea affect your skin and does it work? So whether you are drinking green tea or applying it directly to your body, you are always getting some sort of benefit. When you drink this miracle beverage or use it as a face mask, you are reducing the environmental damages done to your skin. Why? Because not only is green tea high in antioxidants, but it also contains Vitamin B, folate, manganese, potassium, magnesium and caffeine which are all great for your body, skin, and mind. Green tea is consumed mostly in Asian countries, which btw have you ever seen an Asian with bad skin? I think not. Maybe they´re born with it, maybe its green tea. Korea and Japan have the BEST skincare products and if you can get your hands on them I say go for it. They make so many face masks, moisturizers, hair products, serums, etc with green tea, which speaks for itself. I personally love using the green tea face masks the most. If you ask me if I think it works, I will say YES everytime, though I am sure some studies will say it doesn´t. (Most will agree that it does make an amazing difference in skin though.) Make at home face and hair masks for more benefits - I love making at home face and hair masks because I know that it is all natural ingredients. Though, I love buying hair and face products containing green tea and honey, sometimes putting together a honey and green tea mask is more effective since it won´t be full of other ingredients that might have tendencies to dry out your face. If you know you are only adding green tea, honey, and maybe oatmeal, then you know that you are completely benefiting from those three items. Make sense? Plus then you are saving money in the long run!
As I had mentioned before in previous posts, ALWAYS do your research! You never know how bad a product can actually be for you, or if you are simply wasting your time on a skincare fad that doesn´t even work. For my girls that do not take care of their skin because they are younger, PLEASE start now. Skincare is crucial, and once you get wrinkles or bad skin, it is hard to counteract. Take care of yourself and love yourself, one day you will thank yourself for taking that extra step and doing the things you need to do.
Obviously today I did not cover everything, though hopefully I did cover a lot. There are so many more products and ingredients and fads out there to talk about, and maybe one day I will add on a part 2. Let me know below if thats something you guys are interested in. If you guys have any masks or products you love let us know in the comments section! Also, I didn´t get around to my February Favorites simply because I haven´t had time for anything, even shopping and trying new things! This month flew from me completely, but don´t worry, I will be testing out a lot of new products and shopping a lot more this month, (I hope). I love you guys all so much, and I will see you again next time! With love,
